US Army SAW Program: HK23A1 and HK21A1

Yo, listen up, gun enthusiasts! Back in ’57, the U.S. military got all excited about the M14 rifle and M60 machine gun. They even tried to jazz up the M14 with the M15 squad automatic rifle, but that flopped in ’59. No worries, though—they slapped together the M14E2 as a quick fix for those poor infantry squads left hanging without a proper BAR replacement from the ’50s to the ’80s. The M14E2 hit the scene in ’63, got a fancy new name, M14A1, in ’66, and saw some action in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the M60 was the big dog at the company level, chilling with the platoon weapons squad. Ain’t history fun?
