POTD: The Izhevsk SVT-40 Tokarev – The Rifle That Armed The Red Army

Hey there, gun enthusiasts! You won’t believe what followed our photographer home—a vintage 1940 Izhevsk SVT-40 Tokarev! With a nod from the owner, we’re thrilled to showcase these stunning images in our Photo Of The Day. This Soviet semi-automatic beast, designed by the legendary Fedor Tokarev, was a game-changer during the Winter War 80 years back. The SVT-40, or Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva if you want to get fancy, was an upgrade from the SVT-38 and packed a punch with its 7.62×54mmR chamber. It was meant to give the Red Army a serious firepower boost over the old-school Mosin-Nagant bolt-action. Check out these pics and dive into a piece of history!
