ATF says it won’t enforce parts of the NFA — the statute itself is unchanged

Listen to Article

Claims that the National Firearms Act is “dead” are overstated, according to a Gun Collective roundup. An ATF open letter indicating the agency will not enforce certain NFA provisions has fueled that narrative, but the host stressed the statute has not been rewritten. “Unfortunately, the reality is that the agency that’s supposed to enforce the law isn’t doing so, even though the law is still unchanged,” the host said, adding that elected officials should do their jobs “without taking money from foreign lobbyists.”

Policy vs. enforcement

The distinction is enforcement discretion versus repeal. Until Congress amends the NFA, registration, tax, and transfer rules remain on the books even if ATF signals it will not pursue some categories. The host framed the moment as political, not a legal sunset of the Act.

New guns and September NICS

Product notes in the same segment: CZ’s Duty pistol is a modular-chassis 9mm striker-fired handgun in compact (15-round) and full-size (17-round) layouts, with or without a manual safety, 4-inch barrels, multiple safety features, and a pin-based optic mount; MSRP $729. Load Star’s LNK 9 optic-ready “smart gun” is listed near $1,500. Jacob Grey’s Knox Gen 1 is a ported, compensated 2011-style pistol at $6,000 MSRP. Norin brought a Scout version of the ULR just under $2,700. Thompson listed an 18-inch TUL 50 at $8,700. September background checks topped 2 million, with the host expecting further volume if NFA uncertainty continues.
