A Glock 22 that entered the United States in November 1991, shortly after the model debuted at the 1990 SHOT Show, is being refurbished so its owner can sell the former duty pistol. The nearly 35-year-old gun had seen heavy use yet remained undamaged and free of dirt, and it still carried Tru-Glo fiber-optic sights.
Disassembly of the frame revealed a broken trigger pin and an early New York trigger, a polymer part without a spring that the New York Police Department had requested to raise pull weight and imitate a revolver double-action feel during the switch from wheelguns. The slide required only cleaning, though its polymer firing-pin channel liner came out attached to a swab.
Replacement parts are being ordered and installed in sequence based on what is already on hand.
