Waterfowl Season for Youth and Veterans/Active Military Personnel Runs the Weekend of Sept. 26-27

Listen to Article

Idaho youth hunters along with veterans and active military members may hunt ducks and geese during a special two-day season on September 26 and 27. Hunters age 15 or younger do not need a federal migratory bird stamp, while those 16 and older must obtain one.

Young participants can try the activity under adult supervision while using blinds, decoys and dogs at a time when waterfowl often appear in large numbers. Veterans and serving military personnel may join that same early hunt.

Idaho Fish and Game posts further information on its migratory game bird webpage, in the 2026-2027 seasons and rules booklet, and on its hunting access page for finding locations.
