Two years have elapsed since a motorist on Interstate 55 near Pontiac, Illinois, was forced onto the shoulder by a white Ford F-350 while overtaking a truck that carried postal vehicles at 77 miles per hour.

The F-350 closed to within a few feet, sounded its horn, and flashed its lights. After the pass the F-350 drew even, its two occupants shouting and gesturing, then moved into the same lane without any obstacle ahead and pushed the Explorer past the rumble strip onto debris-strewn pavement.

The driver held position rather than enter the ditch, the vehicles struck, metal ground, and the F-350 trailer shifted several inches. The F-350 then returned to the left lane, its truck and trailer no longer unmarked.
