Federal firearms licensees will be able to verify current and prospective employees through NICS once the Firearm Handler Check Final Rule appears in the Federal Register tomorrow, taking effect 30 days later. Until now that system could be used only for prospective gun buyers. NSSF, which pressed for the change after the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, said the Justice Department published the rule so licensed dealers can keep prohibited people from accessing inventory.
