Tomb Sentinels at Arlington now carry four SIG Sauer P320 M17 pistols named Silence, Respect, Dignity and Perseverance, after the Beretta M9 gave way in October 2018. Those names sit engraved on the dust covers, Dignity and Perseverance taken from the Sentinel Creed and the rest from expected visitor silence during the guard change.
Wood grips come from the USS Olympia that carried the Unknown home, the slides bear XXI serrations, the sight plates show Peace Victory and Valor, and the sights hold marble dust from the tomb itself. Twenty-one-round magazines and serials such as LS02JUL37A21 recall the 21-step walk plus the first round-the-clock watch begun 3 July 1937. The set was presented 11 October 2018 at the cemetery chapel and remains fully functional.
