A visitor checking on children in a guest room during a family stay found several shotgun cases under the bed. Ordinary long cases held typical shotguns, while a compact green case held a Kolar over-under with walnut wood, high-end workmanship, and matching accessories that had remained there for years and was valued like a solid truck.

The grandfather had little interest in guns yet kept about a dozen of them in that spot. They belonged to his late brother, a skeet shooter who special-ordered a Kolar Standard Skeet Model, later known as the Max Skeet, from a local shop in October 2002. After the brother’s death the grandfather received the collection and stored it under the bed until the children used the room.
