The U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments in the consolidated cases of Viramontes v. Cook County (Illinois) and Grant v. Higgins (Connecticut) for Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m., which challenge the bans on so-called “assault weapons” including AR-15 rifles and clones, AK-type rifles and other commonly owned modern semiautomatic rifles and pistols, in Cook County, Illinois and the state of Connecticut.
