Taurus has replaced the G2c in its catalog with the new GX2 9mm pistol. The compact model is aimed at first-time buyers who need a handgun for daily carry or home defense.

It takes steel Glock-pattern dovetail sights and updated handling from the costlier GX4 yet carries an MSRP of $309.99, with typical retail prices under $250. The pistol ships with two magazines, holds 13 rounds plus one in the chamber, uses a 3.38-inch barrel, and measures 6.19 inches overall.

Writers and instructors put thousands of rounds through GX2 pistols across three days at Gunsite Academy in Arizona and reported no malfunctions.
