Smith & Wesson has purchased Savage Arms in a transaction valued at 160 million dollars involving stock and cash. Savage Arms began operations in 1894 under Arthur Savage and ranks among the longest-established firearms makers in the United States.
Until 2019 the firm operated as part of Vista Outdoor before investors acquired Savage along with Stevens for 170 million dollars. Over more than 130 years Savage manufactured pistols, shotguns, and rifles and developed a focus on hunting and sporting rifles. Smith & Wesson described the purchase as joining two longstanding American production histories that share commitments to quality, durability, and performance.
