A custom Ruger American Patrol rifle in 5.56 NATO has been converted into a short-barreled rifle intended for constant suppressor use, as featured in TFB Silencer Saturday. The project began with a factory 16-inch heavy-contour barrel that was turned down on a lathe to a thinner profile and then cut to roughly 11 inches after a Form 1 filing.

H and R iron sights were fitted by matching the new barrel diameter to the front-sight bore, with the handguard relieved for clearance while the rear sight and scope mount stayed original. An Otter Creek Polonium K suppressor measuring 4.8 inches was installed, bringing the overall length near that of the unmodified 16-inch barrel. The builder selected the Patrol model because of its price rather than any prior need for that configuration.
