At AUSA SIG Sauer unveiled the XRAY9-CUAS, an electro-optic for counter-drone weapons that computes a drone's future location so the shooter simply aims at the adjusted mark. Sensors including a short-wave infrared rangefinder and slew-rate detectors feed distance, speed and direction into a shifting reticle that accounts for flight time of the projectile.
Effective distance reaches 300 yards based on target size; the optic measures 5.25 by 2.5 by 3.3 inches, weighs 24 ounces and runs up to 50 hours. It accepts CMOS and thermal cameras for day, night or combined views, and SIG Sauer is expanding its North Carolina operations amid a broader unmanned systems lineup that includes the SCYTHE, SABER and M-HORNET.
