Combat veteran Kyle Tripp received a donated axis deer hunt at Union Hill Ranch in Kopperl, Texas, through the SCI Foundation Combat Veterans Hunt after two decades in the U.S. Army. Tripp, who leads the Alaska Chapter and served from February 2004 to June 2024, began the three-day stay on September 25 with guide Will and later harvested his first axis deer on a stalk within 100 yards.

He also took a pig for meat on the final evening. The program, run by the foundation Veterans Committee, invites combat veterans to apply by November 1, 2026 at https://tinyurl.com/VetHunt.

In 2025 Tripp organized hunts to feed Alaskan tribes after a natural disaster.
