Rheinmetall opened its UK Gun Hall in Telford with Defence Secretary Wes Streeting attending. The site restores independent large-calibre gun making in Britain after two decades and forms part of more than 200 million pounds invested in the company's UK sites over five years.

It will produce 120mm and 155mm guns for Challenger 3 tanks and later artillery, and Rheinmetall plans to source steel from Sheffield Forgemasters. The hall currently employs 35 of about 685 Telford staff and is projected to support more than 100 skilled roles as output grows. The project illustrates the UK-Germany industrial link set out in the Trinity House Agreement and also supports Boxer vehicles plus other land programmes.
