Vermont Fish and Wildlife officials released a roster of certified volunteers who handle leashed dogs to find deer, bear, or moose that hunters wounded but could not retrieve. These handlers supply the help at no cost. Certification requires passing a rigorous examination and obtaining a license.
The department posted the names, hometowns, and phone numbers on its website. Volunteers live in Vermont communities such as East Fairfield, Orleans, Groton, Underhill, and Richford, plus nearby New York towns including Granville and Fort Ann.
