Sighting in a thermal can be frustrating, especially for shooters unfamiliar with how a clip-on system works. It’s easy to burn through ammunition making corrections, changing settings, and trying to figure out exactly where the thermal image needs to be relative to the daytime optic. In a recent MDT YouTube video, the process is broken down into a much simpler approach, demonstrating how a clip-on thermal can be mounted, zeroed, and verified in as few as three shots. For the demonstration, the rifle is equipped with an MDT DRT Chassis System and a Nocpix MATE clip-on thermal mounted to the DRT’s forward bridge. The video walks through the entire process, from properly mounting and aligning the thermal to building a thermal target, making pixel-based corrections, and performing one final check before considering the system ready for the field.
