The Marine Corps on 26 August 2026 in Washington, D.C., issued its Ground Combat Element 2040 plan covering fiscal year 2026. The document sets out how the service will keep its land units able to strike hard and shift methods when facing equally capable opponents.

The release forms part of Marine Corps Force Design work and carries the first Ground Combat Element 2040 concept forward into measures that can be put into practice.
