Ford is recalling 223472 of its F-150 pickups from the 2023 through 2027 model years after tank straps were fitted incorrectly to the frame at the factory. Letters will go out to owners from September 21 to 28, identification numbers became searchable on September 14, and dealers will inspect and replace the straps at no charge.

A tank that separates can spill fuel onto hot parts and ignite, stall the engine, or leave a hazard for other drivers, and no alert warns owners beforehand. Second-quarter revenue was 48.3 billion dollars, 1.9 billion dollars below the prior year, with a 1.3 billion dollar net loss. Ford has led the industry in recalls for five years, called back more than one million F-150s in April over a gearshift problem linked to two injuries and a crash, lists at least 12 open recalls, and recently committed one billion dollars to a new paint shop at its Louisville truck plant.
