Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, owned entirely by Bharat Forge Limited, and FN Herstal announced on 3 September a partnership to consider manufacturing counter-drone equipment for India.

FN Herstal already fields several platforms for that mission, including Winchester SX4 shotguns and the Defender line of remote weapon stations. Its Defender counter-drone configuration, first shown in 2022, paired a signal jammer with rifle-caliber or heavy machine guns. FN exhibited those systems at major trade shows this year and highlighted effective distances from 20 meters to 2,000 meters across different weapons.

In 2019 Kalyani Strategic Systems worked with Thales on the opening stages of an Indian Army carbine tender.
