In fiscal year 2026 the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency accounted for 250 service members missing from earlier wars, topping the 231 identifications from the year before. The last case closed was that of Army Capt. Albert P. Wilcox of California, a World War II prisoner of war in the Philippines.
