Delta Waterfowl Seeking Regional Director – IN, OH, MI Region

Listen to Article

Delta Waterfowl’s decision to expand its regional footprint with a dedicated director for Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan isn’t just an organizational move—it’s a strategic recognition that the future of waterfowl hunting hinges on localized, boots-on-the-ground leadership. By placing someone in the tri-state area to build chapters, orchestrate events, and cultivate volunteers, the organization is betting that sustained conservation success depends on people who understand both the flyways and the political realities of the Midwest. For the 2A community, this matters because waterfowl hunting remains one of the most visible, federally regulated forms of hunting; every new chapter and every new volunteer represents another voice that can push back when anti-hunting or anti-gun policies threaten access to public lands, ammunition, or traditional firearms used in the field.

The timing is telling. As state legislatures in the region continue to debate everything from lead ammunition restrictions to public-land access, having a paid advocate whose job includes fundraising and volunteer recruitment means Delta Waterfowl can respond faster and with more credibility than purely volunteer efforts allow. That infrastructure also creates natural pipelines for 2A-minded sportsmen and women to move from “member” to “activist,” turning duck blinds into training grounds for broader Second Amendment engagement. In short, this hire is less about adding another staff line on an org chart and more about hardening the institutional defenses that keep both ducks and duck guns in the field for the next generation.
