Dallas Safari Club selected 13-year-old Trackan Lemon from Holden, Utah as 2027 recipient of the Colin Caruthers young hunter recognition. Family tradition from grandfather and father shaped his early mountain trips in Utah and Sonora, Mexico, and he learned of the honor on a drive to baseball, reacting with disbelief then joyful tears. The award highlights youth leadership in hunting, conservation and community, matching Lemon's travel baseball, football, wrestling, church, service projects and a three-day crossing of Utah's tallest peak. Extreme cold on a British Columbia lynx and wolverine hunt taught him determination, while persistence from age seven completed his worldwide wild turkey collection after an initial Florida miss. Presentation is set for January 7 through 10, 2027 at Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center convention.
