Daiwa launched the RS 500 compact spinning reel with a manufacturer suggested retail price of 34.99 dollars. The design uses metal components in key spots including a machined aluminum spool that aids line control and longer casts along with a stiff aluminum handle that does not bend under load.

Internally three ball bearings and one roller bearing plus an anti reverse feature deliver smooth cranking without slack during retrieves or when fighting fish. A light rigid composite body and rotor maintain precise gear alignment for durability.

The model is currently offered at Daiwa dealers.
