B&T USA Increases Utah Facility Output – Over 7,000 Suppressors/Month

Listen to Article

B&T USA’s decision to scale its Utah suppressor line to more than 7,000 units a month is more than a production milestone—it’s a quiet but unmistakable signal that the domestic suppressor market has reached a tipping point. Where once the NFA’s $200 tax stamp and multi-month wait times kept the category niche, today’s streamlined eForms process and a growing list of states that treat suppressors like any other accessory have turned them into mainstream safety equipment. By expanding both headcount and floor space in the Beehive State, B&T is betting that the next wave of buyers won’t be Special Forces alumni or competition shooters alone; they’ll be ordinary sportsmen who simply want lower recoil and reduced hearing damage without the old-world delays.

That bet carries strategic weight for the broader 2A ecosystem. Every additional can leaving Utah carries a serialized lower that must be registered, tracked, and defended in court—an expanding installed base that makes future regulatory rollbacks politically painful. At the same time, B&T’s collaboration on mounting systems with SureFire and its own recent foray into 8.6 Blackout hardware shows the company is knitting suppressors into complete rifle ecosystems rather than treating them as afterthoughts. The result is a self-reinforcing loop: more hosts, more mounts, more end-users, and ultimately more voters who view suppressor ownership as settled Second Amendment ground rather than a fringe curiosity.

For the community, the message is straightforward—capacity is no longer the bottleneck; policy is. With B&T and its peers demonstrating they can meet surging demand, the onus shifts to statehouses and Congress to finish the job: nationwide hearing-protection acts, removal of the $200 stamp, and uniform shall-issue reciprocity for NFA trusts. If those reforms follow the hardware curve B&T is riding, the suppressor could complete its transformation from regulated curiosity to standard equipment faster than most of us expected.
