Berger in Mesa, Arizona, has released 6.8 Western ammunition in the Elite Hunter line, launching a 170-grain bullet at 2,900 feet per second with a 0.339 G7 ballistic coefficient. Winchester and Browning created the cartridge so hunters could fire heavy .277 bullets from short-action rifles. Plant manager David Hamilton said the load supplies a premium choice with strong flight characteristics and terminal performance for hunts that come down to one shot. The projectiles use a hybrid ogive and J4 hunting jackets. Details appear at bergerbullets.com.
