Apex Ammunition has introduced Waterfowl Stratified S3 Steel shotshells in 12-gauge and 20-gauge. The shells contain mixed sizes of zinc-coated S3 steel shot: BB with 2 only in 12-gauge, plus 2 with 4 and 4 with 6 for both gauges.

President and CEO Jason Lonsberry said duck and goose hunters requested the mixed-size approach. Combining two pellet diameters per shell is meant to keep patterns compact at medium range while preserving energy at longer range. Twenty-five round boxes cost 27.99 dollars for 12-gauge and 26.99 dollars for 20-gauge.
