WarBird Protection Group has secured three soft armor certifications under the National Institute of Justice’s new NIJ 0101.07 standard, representing 20% of the first 15 models certified industry-wide. The Michigan-based manufacturer achieved one of four certified HG1 models and two of 11 certified HG2 models, with the Phenom HG2, Vanish HG2, and Vanish HG1 now listed as compliant.

The new NIJ 0101.07 standard replaces previous Level II and Level IIIA classifications with HG1 and HG2 handgun protection levels. WarBird’s certified models include the Phenom HG2 at 0.90 pounds per square foot and 0.22 inches thick, the Vanish HG1 at 0.82 pounds per square foot and 0.21 inches thick, and the Vanish HG2 at 1.09 pounds per square foot and 0.24 inches thick. The company emphasized that its designs were developed specifically around the new standard’s requirements, including additional shot locations and enhanced conditioning protocols.
