Grammy winner Gladys Knight, 82, said Thursday she will take on fewer live dates as she turns toward other work and more time with relatives, including her husband and grandchildren.

The statement followed public worry about her condition after recent shows, among them a July 25 Hollywood Bowl appearance in which she seemed to stop singing and look confused. William McDowell, her spouse and manager, told TMZ this week he would not declare her healthy, though he said she still wants to sing.

Her son Shanga Hankerson told People in 2025 that her tour load harmed her health and that McDowell largely drove it, which she denied at the time. She also thanked supporters and said she hopes to see them again.
