The MidwayUSA Foundation wrapped its fifth Hometown Challenge on September 30 after raising a record $1,002,911.19. Of that amount $993,777.66 funded team endowments that Larry and Brenda Potterfield match dollar for dollar, yielding nearly $2 million in permanent support for youth shooting programs.

Hudson Farm Foundation of New Jersey topped the field at $199,800 and earned an extra $15,000, followed by West Virginia University, Peoria Skeet and Trap Youth of Illinois, Buckeye Outdoor Youth Education and Shooting Center of Ohio, and Williams County Sportsman's Educational Association of Ohio. Thirty more teams each received $1,000 by lottery while SK Guns and other makers supplied prizes including a Michelangelo .45ACP.

Annual September events build endowments that pay for gear, coaching, travel, and matches across all shooting sports.
