CBS Sports and former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo have ended his game analyst assignment. He will pause work for the first time in his career to attend to health and family before seeking another role, and he thanked the network along with relatives, friends, league members, and supporters.
The network had kept him off air after a July arrest in Milwaukee for operating a vehicle under the influence. He later voiced hope of returning and accepted responsibility for the conduct that led to the charge. Many expected he would stay off the lead NFL crew because his recent broadcasts had declined while former Texans player JJ Watt drew praise as a fill-in.
