Humminbird and Minn Kota will introduce a major electronics development on October 6, 2026, which they present as the opening of a new phase in their joint work on fishing boat systems. They have not named the product but state it will be another advance for anglers.

Minn Kota released the first gear-driven electric trolling motor in 1934, followed by a flexible cable in 1935, a reverse switch in 1965, and a foot-operated electric-steer controller in 1968. Humminbird, started in 1971 as Techsonic Industries in Eufaula, Alabama, has moved fish finders from flashers to LCD displays and from analog units to digital DualBeam sonar and MEGA Imaging.
