On October 21, 2026 Smith and Wesson Brands bought Savage Arms from JDH Holdings for 160 million dollars paid in shares and cash. The Westfield Massachusetts rifle and shotgun firm, started in 1894 in Utica New York and fully producing in Massachusetts since 1946, adds about 160 million dollars in yearly net sales and nearly 500 staff. Together they form the biggest U.S. maker of commercial firearms, now offering handguns through suppressors by folding Savage hunting long guns into existing Smith and Wesson revolver, pistol and sporting rifle ranges. Chief executive Mark Smith said the deal grows the hunting side especially bolt action rifles and that common dealers plus shared hunters and competitive shooters create scale.
