The National Institute of Justice released body armor Standard 0101.07 in November 2023 so new models would be tested under updated rules. Ratings shifted to HG1 and HG2 for handguns and RF1 through RF3 for rifles, with definitions placed in companion Standard 0123.00. The first Compliant Products List for 0101.07 came out June 23, 2026.

Armor already certified to 0101.06 keeps its Level II to IV labels on an active roster through at least 2029, and wearers should keep using current vests. New submissions cannot use the retired IIA category.
