A firearms trainer is preparing a friend for a Coues deer hunt in western terrain after the friend drew a tag. Rob Orgel, who owns Emergency Response Tactical and instructs shooters most days of the year, will join the Arizona hunt near Sonoita and emphasize both precision rifle work and fitness.

Preparation includes shooting from a tripod or hasty positions, knowing ballistic data, and controlling breathing after physical effort. Hiking off trails across rocks and slopes will condition stabilizing muscles to avoid injury far from help.

After a successful shot the pair must still reach, process, and carry the animal out over similar ground.
