Caylen Wojcik of Modern Day Sniper recently demonstrated canyon wind reading for hunting-season shots. His 7 SAUM rifle used a 22-inch Proof Research carbon barrel with about 820 rounds, a Thunder Beast Magnus suppressor, an American Rifle Company Mausingfield receiver, an MDT HNT26 folding chassis, a CKYE-POD bipod, a Leupold Mark 5HD, and supporting rings, level, and sling.

Stationed on the sheltered side of a ridge, he felt little of the 20-to-30 mph flow hitting the far slope yet watched trees and ground to judge the air crossing the crest. At 591 yards he first held 1.6 mils for a 22 mph estimate, then 1.4 mils, and struck the rock.

He teaches a four-step Wind Reading Blueprint and a 10-hour master class, and he urges shooters to practice using terrain clues, with more footage on the Modern Day Sniper channel.
