Impact Shooting's Piet recently tested a 7 Sherman Short Magnum rifle on steel targets at ranges approaching and exceeding one kilometer. After confirming distances with a Vortex rangefinder and ballistic app, he applied elevation via a dedicated turret and made small wind holds. The initial round at the longest distance hit low of center, but a subsequent adjustment yielded a near-perfect strike on a very small plate. He then connected repeatedly with the nearer target following a slight correction, even with cattle passing in front at times. Components include a Stiller action, IBI barrel, MDT chassis, Vortex Viper HD scope, and APW suppressor, which Piet said provided a crisp trigger and acceptable recoil when suppressed.
