Recent polls show far fewer Americans treating firearms policy as a leading national worry. Gallup recorded guns or gun control as the country’s most important problem for only zero to half a percent of people in each of the last seven months. Pew Research Center found that the share of Democratic voters calling gun policy very important to their congressional vote fell 22 percent from 2022, while Republican numbers barely moved.

The NRA legislative institute linked the change to falling crime together with broader firearms freedom, even amid constant restriction campaigns. It noted that well-funded advocates have not lost interest, so gun-rights supporters should stay ready.
