Chris Wilson Jr., a 17-year-old Yorktown High School senior and football prospect, died after being shot several times while inside a car in Muncie, Indiana, about 3 a.m. Monday.

He had pledged to join West Virginia University football in 2027. Head coach Rich Rodriguez said the program was devastated by the loss, had valued knowing Wilson through recruiting, and offered condolences to his family.

Yorktown principal Stacey Brewer described Wilson as a respectful student who stood 6 feet 7 inches yet avoided attention, pursued ambitious goals, and would be missed throughout the school community.
