Young adults often worry they or a loved one could be targeted in a mass shooting; over 60 percent reported moderate or high worry, including about 17 percent at high levels. Around two thirds favored requiring permission to carry firearms publicly and barring them from campuses, while about 60 percent rejected that extra firearms increase safety or that limits violate the Constitution. Greater worry usually meant stronger support for limits except among young men, Republicans and conservatives, where it meant weaker support, and gaps peak when worry is high.
