Meanwhile, states that expanded constitutional carry and loosened permitting requirements have seen violent crime rates drop or remain flat, underscoring that armed, trained citizens—not bureaucratic hurdles—are the real deterrent.
The deeper implication for the 2A community is that every new “common-sense” restriction is less about stopping criminals and more about creating a permanent underclass of disarmed citizens who must rely on the state for protection. When background-check expansions, magazine bans, or red-flag laws are layered onto an already confusing patchwork of regulations, only the compliant shrink their options; gang members and traffickers continue sourcing guns through straw purchases, black markets, and theft.
