California Gun, Ammo Control Fails to Prevent FBI Agents From Being Shot At

FBI personnel in San Diego County came under fire just after 6 a.m. Wednesday while closing in on a suspected drug network linked to the Mexican Mafia. The agents identified themselves, then gunfire erupted and a brief exchange followed, according to an account cited from the New York Post.

The Justice Department said 42 indictments had already been returned against alleged members and associates of several county street gangs, including Varrio Hidden Hills in Poway. California already requires background checks for ammunition sales and restricts privately made firearms, and prosecutors still allege those suspects had guns and ammunition they used against the federal officers.
