Goleta, California, has stretched a halt on additional firearms retailers to a full year after one shop sought to occupy a site next to a preschool. The city first set a 45-day pause in September and called it an emergency step. The relocation itself was not illegal. State law already forbids privately made firearms, leaving licensed shops as the only legal path to buy a gun. A court challenge would require someone denied a new store under the halt.
