After the Supreme Court struck down New Yorks may-issue carry laws, the state and city banned licensed firearms in parks, including Central Park since the mid-1800s. Last Sunday three men robbed Katherine Marroquin while she bicycled there; she hit one in the head with a stainless steel tumbler until they ran. Days later police investigated an alleged knifepoint rape of a 39-year-old woman near East 66th Street and 5th Avenue just after 8:30 p.m., and a permit still would not allow carry in the park.
