Pennsylvania Representative Rob Kauffman has introduced a bill to keep the state’s firearms rules from automatically following changes in federal National Firearms Act requirements. Residents would still have to obey both Pennsylvania law and federal law, but state rules would no longer depend on the status of those federal rules.

Kauffman said the measure would stop state compliance from being tied to federal compliance. He is not highly confident the divided General Assembly will pass the bill.
