On Thursday, Arizona Democrat Mark Kelly appeared on CNN OutFront and faulted President Donald Trump for failing to grasp America’s place internationally. Kelly argued that a leader’s chief duty is raising living standards and said Trump had claimed in the Oval Office to have pondered that point at length.

Kelly asked how renaming a lake assists households now unable to cover fuel, rent, or groceries after energy costs rose sharply, blaming Trump for not even attempting to govern. He said Trump treats partners more harshly than rivals and flatters autocrats, notably Russia’s Putin.

Kelly maintained that longstanding partnerships historically shielded the country, expanded its economy, and produced unmatched armed forces, which he said Trump has undone through ignorance or indifference while concentrating on renaming lakes and gulfs plus personal wealth.
