Fresno County plans to permit prosecutors and special investigators from the District Attorney Office to carry concealed firearms inside county buildings and parks. Supervisor Nathan Magsig described the new policy as a safety measure.

About a month earlier, a senior deputy district attorney was stabbed several times at Courthouse Park in downtown Fresno by someone he had prosecuted. Magsig noted that the prosecutor is recovering and suggested an armed colleague might have prevented the attack.
