New York Governor Kathy Hochul said the state will keep blocking adults under 21 from buying handguns. She issued the statement after a Trump administration change that now permits those purchases for that age group in other parts of the country. Hochul said New York statutes already forbid the sales and that those rules will stay in force.

She described the would-be buyers as teenagers who should not obtain handguns from retail stores.
