An armed Citibank security officer stopped a gunman on a Hillsborough County corporate campus after the attacker crashed a vehicle through a gate and began shooting, Sheriff Chad Chronister said. Thirty-five-year-old Pearson, a married father from Orlando, had phoned threats over a $2,500 debt and a court summons, then arrived with several firearms and shot 41-year-old LeAnne Selmon in a courtyard. After his rifle jammed he grabbed a handgun and fired at her again at short range before walking into a cafeteria. Security officer Fraley, allowed to carry because of prior law-enforcement or military training, took a position in the men’s restroom and struck Pearson five times. Chronister credited Fraley with ending the assault that had already killed Selmon.
